Biography:

Born 14th January 1958, I attended St. John’s Secondary School, Alor in Anambra state 1971 to 1975, graduating with Division One Distinction. I was a Federal Government Scholar and obtained the MB,BS degree of the University of Ibadan in 1981 with Distinction in Anatomy and won the E. Latunde Odeku memorial prize in Neurosurgery. After my housemanship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and a one-year National Youth service with the Nigerian Army in Bauchi, I did my residency training in Surgery at the University College Hospital from 1983 to 1989 and obtained the Fellowship of the West Africa College of Surgeons in 1989. I was appointed Lecturer I, University of Ibadan and an honorary Consultant Urologist to the University College Hospital Ibadan on 1st August, 1990. I am a Schevenin Scholar and hold the Postgraduate Diploma in Urology of the University of London(1994). I rose through the ranks of Senior Lecturer (1994), Reader (2003) to Full Professor in 2006.  I am a Fellow of the West Africa College of Surgeons (FWACS), Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College (FMCS), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and hold 3 certificates from the University of Washington Global Health Programs. I hold the membership of many professional medical associations and have over 50 publications in peer reviewed journals. I have supervised many fellowship dissertations for the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West Africa College of Surgeons. I review for many local and international journals, served in accreditation teams for the National Postgraduate Medical College and the West Africa College of Surgeons. I have also served in many committees of the Senate of the University of Ibadan and  headed the Department of Surgery, University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital, Ibadan from 2016 to 2020.
