Biography:

Ade Fatai Adeniyi is a Professor of Physiotherapy and Specialist Adviser at the University of Ibadan and University College Hospital, Ibadan respectively. He joined the service of University of Ibadan in 2008 as Lecturer I, became Senior Lecturer in 2011 and Professor in 2016. He is an accomplished educator and researcher with research and practice interests in physical activity and health promotion as applicable to the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, especially diabetes mellitus. In the field of diabetes care, he has led and been part of several collaborative researches that have provided better understanding of physical activity, the factors associated with being physically active and inactive, and the utilisation of diverse forms of physical activity for health promotion. His research collaboration also provided more insights into how modifiable patient characteristics are linked to diabetes complications such as poor fitness and fatigue, sexual dysfunction and neuromusculoskeletal complications including peripheral neuropathy. He has served in several University committees across different levels of administration. He is a member of many national and international professional bodies across the globe and has served on some of their sensitive committees. He is the Director of Physical Activity and an Executive Board Member of the Nigerian Heart Foundation. He is the Nigeria National Centre Director of Exercise is Medicine®, an agency that is coordinated by the American College of Sports Medicine with National Centres in almost 50 countries across the globe. He is also the 11th Deputy Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
