IRELAND-BASED ALUMNUS OF COMUI'S PHYSIOTHERAPY DEPARTMENT PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE PROVOST, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR THE ONGOING STUDENTS’ HOSTEL PROJECT

Otunba (Dr.) Samson Oluseyi Aba, a Physiotherapist based in the Republic of Ireland paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Olayinka Omigbodun on Wednesday, 16 August 2023. Dr. Aba who is a 2000 Physiotherapy alumnus was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Head of Physiotherapy, Dr. Adesola Odole, and other members of staff of the Department including Dr. Nse Odunaiya, Dr. Olumida Dada (a classmate of the visitor) and Dr. Felix Odusanya (a classmate of the visitor).

Receiving the visitors on behalf of the Provost who was out of the country at that time, the Deputy Provost Professor A.F. Adeniyi welcomed Dr Seyi Aba and recounted that Dr Aba succeeded him as the President of the Association of Physiotherapy Students. The Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Professor T.O. Ogundiran was also available to welcome the visitor. The Deputy Provost took the visitor through the general needs of the College, especially the ongoing hostel project. The Deputy Provost sought support for the hostel project and the Sponsor A Student Programme.

While responding, Dr. Aba promised to support the hostel in his personal capacity and mobilize support from his group of influence. He recalled that the College of Medicine provided the platform on which the alumni have built their careers and livelihood. Earlier, Dr. Aba had made cash donations to the Department of Physiotherapy and the E.Latunde Odeku Medical Library which was used to acquire some new sets of chairs for the library. A few months ago, Dr. Aba had donated a Toyota Corolla car and also paid for the registration of the vehicle. The vehicle has since been in use by the Department of Physiotherapy.
