Biography:

Dr. Olutoyin Sekoni graduated MBBS from the University of Ilorin in 1998.  She had her residency training in Community Medicine at the University of Ilorin Teaching hospital obtaining the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians in Community Health in 2006. She also obtained a Masters degree in Public Health with an emphasis on Reproductive Health from the University of Ibadan in 2010. Dr. Sekoni is an examiner of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP-Community Health).

She is a lecturer in the Reproductive and Family Health unit of the Department of Community Medicine, College of Medicine as well as being an Honorary Consultant to the University College Hospital Ibadan. She currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Community Medicine.

Her research emphasis is in Reproductive Health with specific focus on women’s health, intimate partner violence, safe motherhood and adolescent health. She hopes to make an impact in these areas through evidence-based research that influences policy and programme development.

She has had both local and international research collaborations such as with the Nigerian Academy of Science and PSR Finland (Physicians for Social Responsibility).
