THE TOGETHER AGENDA

VISION AND MISSION STATEMENTS

Vision

The Vision for my 8-point TOGETHER Agenda for the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI) is nested in the vision of the University of Ibadan “For the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan to be a World Class Institution for Academic Excellence Geared towards Meeting Societal Needs.

Mission

My Mission in the College of Medicine, would be to work with passion, compassion, humility, commitment, integrity, unwavering focus and zeal to ensure that the Mission of the University of Ibadan, the College of Medicine, each Faculty, Institute, Department, Unit and each Individual Personal Development Plan is pursued in a supportive and conducive environment.

The Together Agenda also captures the mission statement of the University of Ibadan to:

  • Expand the Frontiers of Knowledge through the Provision of Excellent Conditions for Learning and Research.
  • Produce Graduates who are Worthy in Character and Sound Judgement.
  • Contribute to the Transformation of Society through Creativity and Innovation.

I present an 8-point TOGETHER Agenda for the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI) for the period 2020 to 2024 as I serve as Provost. 

The TOGETHER Agenda has eight main points of focus:

O: Optimizing Staff Productivity and Welfare

G: Getting our Students Ready for the Global Stage

E: Espousing an International Outlook

T: Teaming up with UCH and other parts of UI for Greater Impact

H: Harnessing the Power of our Alumni

MISSION STATEMENTS

Togetherness through Community Conversations and Collaboration

To promote a togetherness process in CoMUI through community conversations and collaboration by bringing together those who feel they are doing great with those who feel differently. To make togetherness an integral aspect of the day-to-day activities of CoMUI and provide a safe place where members of CoMUI can come together to talk about their concerns, hopes and plans for CoMUI and how they want to move CoMUI forward. To utilise community conversations to build up shared values that CoMUI members never knew existed and to produce a shared sense of purpose.

Optimizing Staff Productivity and Welfare

To promote an environment that fosters staff productivity and welfare in CoMUI and ensures that each member of staff has a Personal Development Plan (PDP) that is supported by CoMUI’s management team. 

Getting our Students Ready for the Global Stage

To improve on the bid of CoMUI to produce students that are worthy in character and learning, suited for the rapidly changing global world, able to make sound judgements, and are also creative and innovative thinkers, by providing a decent and stimulating learning environment, as well as living spaces that are free of fear, abuse and discrimination.

Espousing an International Outlook

To pursue programmes that will attract international students to CoMUI, as well as international faculty, to enrich the research and learning environment and help our local students develop internationally relevant skills.

Teaming up with the University College Hospital (UCH) and Other Parts of the University of Ibadan (UI) for Greater Impact

To put programmes and interventions in place to ensure that CoMUI continues to rise and thrive as an integral part of the University of Ibadan and continues to improve on its relationship with its twin institution, UCH.

Harnessing the Power of our Alumni

To set up mechanisms that will further enhance CoMUI’s ability to tap the great resource that our alumni community is.

Enlarging CoMUI’s Financial Pocket

Actively pursue programmes that will ensure that CoMUI has a constant and ready inflow of financial resources for the successful conduct of all her essential programmes.

Reaching out to the Community

Establishing and improving on programmes in COMUI to ensure that the impact of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, is felt in the communities within which it is situated and the entire neighbourhood around her are transformed by the outreach, research and capacity-building programmes emanating from the College. Training students to become leaders that will be engaged with contemporary issues in society to help shape culture and policy in the right direction and ensuring CoMUI Contributes to the Transformation of Society through Creativity and Innovation. 

ADDITIONAL MISSION STATEMENTS 

Leadership and Administration

To ensure that a mechanism is in place for the regular appraisal of my role and responsiveness so that a constant strategic response, characterized by transparency, accountability and inclusiveness is established and maintained in the College. To strengthen administrative efficiency, safeguard statutory regulations and their implementation, and promote the image of the College in all media.
