Profile

Professor Akeem Olawale Lasisi joined the University of Ibadan's Department of Otorhinolaryngology in December 2000, starting as a lecturer 1 and later earning the title of professor in October 2010. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Otology and Skull Base Surgery as well as the Molecular Otorhinolaryngology Unit within the department.

He is an erudite scholar and his passion for research is demonstrated by the completion of his Doctor of Medicine Thesis in Immunobiology at the University of Ibadan in 2013.

His academic pursuits have extended beyond the University of Ibadan, as he has taken on roles as a Visiting Professor and Research Fellow in Genomics of Deafness at the Hussman Institute of Human Genomics. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Miami, Florida.

Professor Lasisi's remarkable contributions to the field have been recognized through various Research and Travel grants, including prestigious awards from the MacArthur Foundation and the National Institute of Health. His expertise and passion for advancing knowledge in Otorhinolaryngology mark him as an influential figure in the academic and research community.
