Biography:
Prof. Juwon Tunde Arotiba was born on 13th December, 1957 in Mopa, Mopa-muro LGA, Kogi State, Nigeria. He attended ECWA Primary School, Ileteju, Mopa (1965 -1970), ECWA Secondary School, Mopa, (1971 -1975), Kwara College of Technology, School of Basic Studies (1975 – 1977). He attended the University of Ibadan (1978 -1983) where he obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1983. He later proceeded and obtained a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics in our great and highly esteemed University of Ibadan in 2007. He also holds the Fellowships of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria in Dental Surgery (1992) and West African College of Surgeons (1997) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the International College of Dentists (2013) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) of the National Postgraduate Medical College.
He was employed as Lecturer 1 in 1992 and has served diligently in producing many dental surgeons and maxillofacial surgery specialists. He is currently an Honorary Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon to the University College Hospital, Ibadan and Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Ibadan.
Professor Arotiba’s areas of Research and clinical practice interest are: Orofacial Oncology (tumours), Maxillofacial (Jaw) Reconstruction and Dental Implantology. He has co-edited one book, contributed chapters in 2 books and published over 90 articles in reputable peer – reviewed journals. He is married with children
He is a member of many professional bodies and Associations, but to mention a few, including:
