Renowned Medical Oncologist and Cancer Geneticist, Olufunmilayo Falusi Olopade, M.D., Walter L. Palmer Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine, and Human Genetics from the University of Chicago, will be the speaker at this event.
Dr. Olufunmilayo Falusi Olopade is an internationally recognized expert in breast cancer, particularly among women of African descent. Her groundbreaking work in this field has earned her numerous accolades, including the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award and a six-year tenure as a member of the National Cancer Advisory Board during the Obama Administration. With a rich background in genetic research and a keen focus on global health and women in science, Dr. Olopade brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her lectures.
As a proud alumna of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, where she obtained her MBBS degree in 1980, Dr Olopade has remained committed to advancing medical research and training in Africa. In 2005, she established the first Immunohistochemistry Laboratory in Sub-Saharan Africa at the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT), contributing to the development of a robust translational research programme within the College and the University of Ibadan.
